As long as I was working (full-time) most of my reading was restricted to technical literature, computing books and magazines. Now that I have a little more time on my hands I have been able to widen my reading. Recently I have tried some classics, e.g. Waverley, Tom Sawyer, Pride and Prejudice and Prester John, as well as historical and biographical works, e.g. The Decline and Fall of the British Empire by Piers Brendon or Dominic Hibberd's Wilfred Owen.
On the lighter side, I have also just finished the Harry Potter series and have enjoyed several detective stories with an Edinburgh background, by Kate Atkinson and Ian Rankin. My latest discovery is M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin books, light and amusing.
