The Hochhörndler Hütte, on the south side of the Reckmoos, is another place worth a visit, either as a destination on its own or combined with a longer hike to the Wildseeloderhaus. The approach on the south side is from the Hörndlinger Graben. At the east end of Fieberbrunn take the next road off to the right after the road which leads up to the main lift car-park. Drive along this until you pass the Gasthof Eiserne Hand and then turn right onto the road which takes you through a damp and dank tunnel, then along the Schwarzach valley, past the Schreiende Brunnen (Screaming springs). About 1 km after the Hörndler-Grundalm there is a car-park where you can leave your car. From there a short path takes you up to the well built road which leads on to the hut. Very easy, the walk takes around 2 hours.
On the north side the walk follows the line of the Reckmoos Nord gondola, reached either by walking up from the Lärchfilzhochalm or down from the top station of the lift on the Lärchfilzkogel (as described on the Wildseeloderhaus page).
From the hut the Blumenpfad, the flower path, takes you round to the Seenieder above the Wildsee. The path is attractive and has great views to the south, to the glaciers at the Kitzsteinhorn and Großglockner and the Zillertal.
